Plane Spotters To Help Manchester Airport!

Fri Apr 18, 2003 5:51 am

I just got my new issue of Airliner World and in the back there is an article about how Manchester airport wants to have plane spotters look out for anything unusual or suspicious. Superintendent Paul Mclver said that he wants plane spotters to be his eyes and ears because "because they get into every nook and cranny"

I think we should hire Mr. Mclver at every airport in the world!

If only US airports and airport executives would come to this reality...the spotting community over here would be 300 times happier and content..

How ironic!

This article was great and so true!

We are the eyes and ears and should be treated kindly and we can help!

Wish Paul Mclver would have a meeting with the Gatwick bobbies and let em know the score with spotters  Smile

Was there not a link to this story from a UK paper? If so and if someone could locate it, post it here (or e-mail it to me @ t2m@pdq.net), I would like to send it out to my local airport officials. The local authority here (HAS), has stated in the past that it was looking into implementing such a program as well and I would like to prod HAS a little bit with this story.

Someone should mail a copy to security chiefs at FLL & MCO.

I'll e-mail to my local airport officials and city council Monday (after the holidays). Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Again thanks,

Another reason we need to gather into smaller groups in our local communitys.

If it is good for the UK where they have had far more terrorism than the USA then it should serve us and our airports well to implicate this program but I think that here in the USA we are going to have to educate our Airport officials first. Now we have a good case to show them.

Thanks for the article.
