Well, according to Minolta's website the Dimage X is a 2MP camera with a 3X
zoom. Many people on here will tell you to just stay home with specs like that. I am not one of these people.
You will have to get close to what you are photographing with the amount of zoom you have available, so action shots are likely out. But there is no reason you shouldn't be able to get some good ramp type shots. Just make sure you let the subject fill the frame to get as many "pixels on target" as possible because if you have to do much cropping, the quality will take a severe hit. I managed to get a dozen or so images on here with a lesser camera than you have to work with, I have since upgraded and this has made it easier for me to get good quality images. But there is nothing wrong with using this camera to "get the hang of it". And as always, the person running the camera is as important as the quality of the camera in his/her hand.
Give me a mile of road and I can take you a mile. Give me a mile of runway and I can show you the world.
