Random Photography Conversation

Thu Jun 19, 2003 9:25 pm

There's a lot of anger often int his forum, so I try to make threads that will let people have more fun and get their mind off of it, which is why I wrote thise girl posts and stuff.

I just thought I'd start a thread that we can use to discuss whatever pertaining to photography. Just BABBLE about it, and I'm sure something fun will develop.

Here's my "babble".

I have been trying to decide what camera to get. I'm saving up money which is sad how a 22 year that can actually get laid (yeah, I'm talking about me) would rather save up for a camera than a car. lol

I learned that Jason Taperell uses a D30, which is what Tom Turner uses and is what my pics were taken with, so I'll probably get one of those if I can find it.

I'm fixing my home computer this week, and once I do, all you folks are gonna be seeing LOTS of my digital video that I've compiled over the past year. Mostly LGA stuff, but some JFK too. I've got Concorde sutff, nice crosswind shots (at LGA), and other interesting things.

By the way, that "Girly Anet Pictures" of mine didn't help as much as I thought it would. I sent a girl one of the pictures that was recommended, and even though she said the pic was great, she wouldn't go out with me again. She said somethign about "badsoft" and size rejection. Oh well.

Phil

Your the guy for video footage.

I have plenty of stuff from Kai Tak all on analogue tape, VHS and VHSc.
How do I get this stuff onto the PC and save as MPEG or similar?

Currently have a top spec PC and a Gainward Nvidia card (cannot remember the spec but it's one from the top)

This card came with all the cables and software to compose and edit video. I believe that the card itself is all I need to get started.....but not sure.

Anyone been able to transfer annalogue video to PC?

I have some great 'home movie' stuff, my actual landing via the checkerboard into Kai Tak from the window and some nice Cathay TriStar footage.

Cheers

I never tried to get VHS onto PC, but I know you need a video card that has input ports for the "yellow and white" plugs.

From there, you just need a video program that can capture video, and edit it as you please.

It SHOULD be that simple. From there, hosting it on a site is the only issue.

I also recommend getting a DVD burner or Video CD program to store your vids on CDs or DVDs.

Me, I have a digital video camera that I use firewire and iLink to load my footage onto PC.

Any questions, just reply or email me at bigphilnyc@yahoo.com

Granite, I will have to get back to you with that info.

I have VHS to load onto my PC and have a port but just need to get it up and running. when it happened, I will keep you abreast of my experiences with this.

Yeah Phil, I kinda agree with Granite. Stick with video. While the pictures are beautiful, video captures the expereince of hearing it too.

we'll miss those sounds.

Hi all

Thanks guys.

I have a feeling that my graphics card will let me do this as they would not have supplied the cables, cd and information.

Just need to figure out what to do.

Cheers
