It can be done so easily by just using the "crop" function...  Smile

The guy who took that picture would be the sort of guy who starts uploading here and immediately gets very irritated when his pictures are rejected. I can see it now - "How dare you reject them, they're fine pictures, they've been printed in such publications as the Seattle Times. F*** you - if you won't accept my pictures there are other sites that will take them!"

From which I will state...

Professional DOES NOT NECESSARILY EQUAL Expert

Unless of course he meant it and is no doubt able to wax lyrical at great length about juxtaposed compositional elements creating a tension...blah-blah, blah-blah, b**ls**t, b****ks....  Wink/being sarcastic

I think you guys are missing the point - this is a serial publication - we get the tail tomorrow.

Cheers,

I wouldn't consider that of being a typaical planespotter photo, but some wort of art made by a guy that is not a longitme aviation photographer and so still (or yet) sees things different.
In my eyes that's a sortof stylish photo and I would prefer it over many otehr boring photos as well as I would'n call it in a row with other typical aviation shots as I said.

I can look at that picture and instnatly tell that it is a frame form video, cant you see that?

I would put lots of money on it that the video is probably crystal clear and crisp on a nice monitor with good video card.

That is not a still photo, cut the guy some slack. I've posted frames form video here and they come out the same, regardless of the video quality.

Phil,

I don't think its image quality we're commenting on really... Lets put it this way, I think that the airliners.net rejection for that one would be badcentered. Still or video, he's still lopped the majority of the airplane off whilst leaving huge masses of empty sky!

To be fair, the shooter's a photojournalist—not an aviation photographer.

And he's a pretty good photojournalist at that:

I'd thank the editing desk on that one. Chances are the shooter sent the editors a buttload of frames, of which someone else decided that one went to print. Why? I have no idea. Deadlines maybe?  Smile

Its not a video, they are photos, they aren't bad quality apart from being compressed to infinity, the asthetics are the problem  Big grin

The pixelation makes me say video. When I get home, I'll link some frames in here from ym video to compare.

Sometimes when filming video, you keep the camera still and let the plane pass through view, and some frames will look like that.

I just dont think someone intentionally made a picture that bad. I thin it's video, and probably jsut a shot of allowing the plane to pass through. Not all video keeps the plane in the dead center.

Regards

I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be a photo.
