Dashing! Hope they'll do something about those engines, though (but it doesn't look like it  Sad).
Is she going to be seen somewhere in Europe, maybe? Anyone who knows?  Insane
Or maybe crossing the pacific ocean to KLAX is the route for this beautiful bird...

I like the painted engines myself, although I doubt I'll ever see it in person. They don't fly into DFW that often.........grin !!

Hi All,

From latest reports it appears as if the engine cowlings will remain. Qantas often had trouble with the painted cowlings. They were often seen on other Qantas aircraft for maintenance reasons (cowlings and engines are often mixed around).

Examples:

VH-OJC borrows from both Wunula Dreaming and British Airways.

The Qantas cowlings differ on the standard Qantas 747's anyway.
The Rolls Royce engined Qantas have grey or silver cowlings, while the GE powered cowlings are lighter. Apparently the Rolls are quite messy and a dark cowling covers this up:

The latter is an ex-Malaysian. I believe Qantas were quite impressed with the GE's over the Rolls Royce engines.

Anyone know if there are other airlines looking to purchase the ER? (non cargo)

Thanks for the cool pics, look nice.....as for the engine cowling, well, it's not that bad.

Living in FRA and using FRA quite often especially in the mornings and evenings, I guess I'll have a good chance to see her soon, old Wunala came to Germany on a regular basis, landed early in the morning, and left FRA late in the evening Big grin
I know it's only VfB but I like it!

Unfortunately the 747-400ER is generally used for the extra long SYD-LAX routes. There might even be a possibility of doing to SYD-ORD - a nasty 17-18 hour flight.
Maybe a reality.

Given Qantas's extremely long routes, the ER is essential. Qantas really couldn't fly the SYD-LAX direct until the 400 series came along (with PAX that is).

The ER's have made their way to Heathrow - but not often.
Cross your fingers - she might make her way to Germany.

Glenn (and Joni, too),

Old Redbird came to FRA...well, I suppose every 6 or 8 weeks or so, I did see her on a pretty regular basis, usually standing on the western outskirts near the fuel reservoirs. Hopefully new Redbird will find her way, but I agree, if they bought her for Transpacific, it might take some time, until there are more of it, and they can afford to send her to Europe.

Anyway any info on schedules to Europe are highly appreciated, as I travel to LHR quite often, I'll go and try to see her!

Very true.A handful of times so far but with no oppurtunity for a shot most of the time as it operates on the early morning arrival generally.

Hopefully Wunula makes it there soon.
She does her first revenue flight to LAX on Tuesday this week.
