Here's Another Few Rejections For 'ya...

Thu Oct 09, 2003 10:19 am

seems to be getting a little tedious, but here are some rejections from the last batch of pics. i understand why they rejected some of them, but it just doesnt seem justified. cant explain it [then again, thats how everybody feels about their own pics...]

badmotivbadexposure
http://airliners.net/procphotos/rejphoto.main?filename=PA050245.JPG
-if its badmotive for the top of the building [with all the bird crap], i can crop that out. as for badexposure, its obviously because its not the brightest of pictures. i think the light has a nice effect, but i guess i should go brighten it then...

badmotiv

-you mean to tell me that open cargo door and packages ruin the photo? puhleese!

badmotivbadexposure

-badmotive, i dont see. badexposure i guess i can work on...

badmotiv

i really think they should lighten up on including ramp lice, especially if we 'try' to hide it...sheesh.

-so i guess the shadow ruined the shot, right? if not, then tell me how this got in:

here's what i think.....

1- the building is in the way, so i understand the badmotive

2- i don't see anything wrong with that pic, but the cargo door is open.

3- the quality is kinda dull, maybe its my crappy lcd.

4- you caught too many rampies in the picture. and dude, don't call us lice.

5- this pic i don't get.

6- you have a lot of clutter, a lot of rampies and the open cargo door. so i kinda understand the badmotive.

here's a tip, wait to take the pic until right before the plane is pushed back. then everything will be out of your way. ususally everything will be moved from the gate when a plane is buttoned up. only the tug will remain.

if you can, you should try to ask the rampies to move. be nice, but we always did. i know it's not happening through the glass in the terminal, but this is for future reference.

I agree with what Cancidas said, especially with technique. I just want to know how the heck you got some of those shots? They look good, one thing I am learning is that these screeners will only help your shots look better. If at first you don't succeed, try again. I am looking forward to more of your shots in the DB.

FUtterman....

Why are you making life hard for yourself?? The quality of the photos is pretty decent, but this site, as is noted in another thread, does not like ramp lice photos. You can like the photos, I can like the photos, Joe Blow might like them...but Johan has told the screeners that he does not like them, so unless it is something really special there is small chance that a photo featuring lots of ramp equipment/personell etc...will be accepted.

Focus your energy elsewhere and you will have much more success.

Just my thoughts...

I agree with all the bad motives. Have you ever read what bad motive means? Bad Motive = "What is the point of this picture, as I can't tell..." or "why did you take this picture?"

composition, lighting, angles, clutter, ...all could be improved, I think that is what they are trying to tell you with those rejections in my opinion.

It appears you are trying to hard.

Jeff

I had a reject today as well..

More of a place overlooking an airport, then an airport overview, but I thought it might have had a chance. The Chapel at the U.S. Air Force Academy, It kind of overlooks the field where the AF cadets learn to fly. Oh well...

If that B-24 is real, that's a mighty big church! Big grin

About the rejections:

1) Dark, partially obscured (wheels), rear quarter view unattractive, no clear subject.

2) Rather a tough call, but I have to agree with badmotive. The rear angle is not terribly attractive, and maybe zoomed in a little too much.

3) Definately dark. Why cut out half of the airplane?

4) Borderline, too cluttered.

5) Rather pointless. You see nothing but a hand and an airport chart.

6) Cluttered, nosewheel obstructed. When you have so much in the picture, try to select only shots that "tell a story". I don't see the point to such a shot, as it is here.

I would comment, but i've got to go out. I totally agree with Charles and Cancidas, alot of them are unmotivated closeups that aren't really needed, plus some of them are in shadows with bright parts, and there are ramp lice all over alot of them.

ok ok thanks for all your input  Smile.

FUtterman....
is that an emphasis on anything? lol

also got another few rejects today, two of which i totally disagree with. or maybe its juts me. let me know...

badmotiv
http://airliners.net/procphotos/rejphoto.main?filename=PA050221.JPG
-no obstructing view, and since when is a tail/wingtip not motivated?

baddouble
http://airliners.net/procphotos/rejphoto.main?filename=PA050221.JPG
-i laughed so hard when they rejected this one for baddouble. joke aside, i really have nothing to say for this pic.

some of the pics seem to be a little tight, and thats because thats all the room i could give. fences, light poles, other planes, etc all would have interfered. i dont have ramp access, after all.

thanks again  Big thumbs up

Look identical to me  Big grin.

Yes, definitely badmotiv, the photo is a bit dark, the tail/winglet isn't very interesting and its taken without the sun on it.

is the DAL tail/wingtip shot really that dark? sheesh...i thought some nice sunset light would have added a nice touch. looks bright enough to me...

Yes, it does remind me of that... And that's half the problem - too much like the other one. The other half the problem is that the airplane's to the right of the frame and you've chopped part of an engine off.

With respect, suggest you take a few more complete airplane pics before you start trying to get too clever with parts and things... Basics right is the first challenge.
