JFK-CONCORDE-on Last Day, A TV Crew Wants Us There

Tue Oct 21, 2003 9:01 am

I have a contact who is filming a show that will air on the Travel Channel.

They would like to film US gathered at the Howard Beach spot, on Friday morning, during the last Concorde departure.

I would like to call out to all you airliners.net members, both visiting and local, to come out to the Howard Beach spot and see her on her last run.

Please sound off here ONLY if you can go. Thanks

Anne and I will be there for sure. BUT, we're going to pick our location based on where we think she is going to depart and where we can get the best light for a picture. Sorry Mario getting that picture has to take precedence over everything else. If we aren't in the park with you guys we'll join you as soon as we can after she departs.

Art and everyone... remember the last AF departure? Takeoff on 31L was guaranteed due to the fact that the press was pre-positioned around the terminals and runway. Also, morning departures almost always seem to be from the south runway due to noise abatement (assuming the winds are anywhere from the NNW to SW).

If I were a betting man I’d say 31L… but if you want to nail it for sure just find out where the press will be positioned. You should be able to see them with a good set of binoculars.

For any airliners.net members that will be at Howard Beach to watch the last ever Speedbird 002,

Please look out for me at 0600, in a beige and blue Southwest Jacket and I will probably have a cameraman with me. I'll will most likely be with BigPhilNYC. I will have a pair of wraparound glasses on my head.

A Travel Channel crew would like to tape a bunch of us airliners.net members watching the Concorde. I hope to see you there.

Mirrodie

(also, Cancidas gave me a report that winds are 29er, so 31L looks promising.)
