More Nights Shots You Requested....rejected?

Fri Nov 14, 2003 2:05 am

I am getting a few emails here and there and they are all because of my night shots. So when i got out to the airport i really focus on getting some night shots for you guys to enjoy, but now lately there have been some rejections that i don't really understand? Please help me out?

1) Ramp Lice galore

2) Crooked to the right, rotate CCW

3) Way too much contrast

4) Too bad the sun went behind a cloud, could have been sweet

5) Looks soft to me.

We all get rejections, I just got a bunch, but it's okay. Not every shot we take will be perfect.

Grant---

#1...bad ramp lice. The rule from on high is to generally reject shots that have lots of ramp activity in front of the airplane. I don't even bother with those....

#2...big time off angle. Needs 1.5 to 2 degress rotation to the left.

#3 is really grainy.

#4 is sadly backlit. Beautiful airplane that full sun would really bring out the colors. (at the risk of blowing you out with the white reflections.) Try working with levels to bring it up.

#5....I'm not sure. It is too dark for my taste. A bit grainy and I think just a tad off level.

Your night shots are incredible...Don't get frustrated, we all go through rejection periods where, in my opinion, we start getting a little confiedent and maybe let some simple mistakes by that lead to rejects....

Cheers, Tony

Grant,
Sometimes too much of a good thing......is no good.

I'll go with the comments of Royal and Tony as well.

Thanks guys, just me venting when I get the rejections slapped at me with no clear explanation....don't worry i got a new weapon....bought a teleconverter for my Sony F717, i even got the sony upgrade, this thing is HUGE!!....worked pretty well today.....I guess the best remedy for a bad day of rejects is a good day shooting more,

Cheers,

Grant

Grant,

Did you get the Sony VCL-HGD1758 or Oly TCON-300?

I have the Sony one and I do know there is a quality degrade when shooting with it... Is that the case with yours too?

Hey Grant,

I will have to agree with those rejections, but then again most are fixable to be accepted.

Man, your 10 or so most recent night shot batch that was uploaded a few days ago.. Blew me away!!  Wow!

Keep it up! You are like making the most of the remaining days open at T1 carpark. I Absolutely HAVE to return to YYZ next year..
Gotta catch the bunch that I missed out like BWIA!

Grant,

Somebody mentioned your shots from T1 garage - but those night shots weren't taken from there were they? Were they made from inside T3?

Grant, wonderful pictures. What settings do you normally use on your F717 for these night pictures?

Bronko,

I set it up on "M" mode, usually F5.6 or around there....but i can go all the way up to 8.0, just adjust your exposure time to fit the light you are letting in?? Make sense....hey man if you got one...go to your favorite spot and try all settings...the camera will tell you what picture is what on the display, choose the best and keep using that setting???

Anything else, just email me!
