an awckward feeling walking through the airport with a camera in one hand, and a scanner in the other. not many people bother to look, or cops for that matter. when i set up inside the central terminal at LGA
[ok, im inviting criticism here], i have my camera out, and most of the time my scanner. the scanner is on full squawk, and its not very loud. never attracted attention. me not having a DSLR [yet] probably has something to do with it also...my camera doesnt look too threatening [as if cameras were a threat].
the only time i have EVER been stopped in LGA
was when i was there with justin c., and he had his *bigger camera. attracted some attention, id imagine, so thats that. not to say that i would still hang around there until im dragged out in cuffs, though.
so phil, unless your video spot is on some sort of secretive piece of land, dont feel weird. go to the dock. go to mcneil park. go to planeview. these are spotter-friendly places, as far as i know.
and who knows, if you do get arrested, you can always have a nice view of 31/13 from rikers island
