Storagefields: IGM, GYR, CHD, TUS

Wed Dec 03, 2003 10:20 pm

Can anybody give more info about one of these fields? Where going in January. We start at PHX, than to TUS than all the way up to IGM, LAS and back via VCV and Mojave. All of this we hope to do it in 10 days.

Which days are to best to go there: weekdays, weekends?

What time of the day you can take the best pictures (sunlight)?

Is it a free entrance or do you have to contact someone prior to your visit?

What about the Tucson area: do it or don't do it?

Ten days seems ambitious to me... then again I think at the storage yards, you don't hang around a lot of time, just shoot what you can and leave.
My trip is eight days and covers LAX, VCV, MHV, LAS (maybe IGM) and DEN...

The TUS area is mainly military save for TUS itseld and the largely inpenitrable MZJ. Only you can decide whether its worthwhile, but if you're into propliners do call into Chandler Memorial too which is just off the road from PHX to TUS. Ten days is OK if you don't want to do touristy stuff as well, and if you're maybe prepared to drive evenings some days and photograph during the days.

As for the rest, see the topic raised in the forum by Konstantin:
