Sigma 80-400mm OS -- Anyone?

Tue Dec 09, 2003 3:11 pm

Hello All,

I'm curious if anyone out there has ANY info on the new Sigma 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 EX OS(Image Stabilization) lens. On paper (or computer screen), it seems that it's a nice competitor to the Canon 100-400mm L with IS, trading L sharpness for 20mm on the low end and $300 in price... however I have yet to find any information anywhere on this lens. For IS under a grand, it seems this lens and the older Canon 75-300mm are the big runners... I'm curious as to how the Sigma stacks up.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Hi Mike,

A quick search of the DPreview.com Canon lens forum revealed the following topics which may be of interest.

Cheers!
