Fuji S602 `.avi' Video..?

Tue Dec 09, 2003 9:33 pm

Are the video `files' that the S602 produces/stores just meant to be fed to a TV or VCR? None of my computer programs that should read .avi files seem to read them. No help from the manual.....

Running Win98.

As to Codec...I have yet to have had a need to dissect that term!
Enlightenment will be gratefully received.

As .avi files can be compressed in what seems to be a myriad different ways there are codecs that handle that.
I suggest you do a google search for Fuji S602 and codec. You should find something useful to install.

Codec definition :
"Short for compressor/decompressor, a codec is any technology for compressing and decompressing data. Codecs can be implemented in software, hardware, or a combination of both. Some popular codecs for computer video include MPEG, Indeo and Cinepak. In telecommunications, (short for coder/decoder) a device that encodes or decodes a signal. For example, telephone companies use codecs to convert binary signals transmitted on their digital networks to analog signals converted on their analog networks. The translation of a binary value into a voltage that can be transmitted over a wire."

In case someone searches and comes across this thread in future:
Ok according to one place you need to use the supplied viewer and export it as a windows WMV file.
