Hilton LAX Airport

Sun Jan 11, 2004 4:13 am

I would appreciate comment regarding the quality of South facing views from the Hilton at LAX from anyone with first hand experience. (Is the glass thick & tinted? How easy can you see thru, etc.) Thanks.

Hi

Yes glass are very tinted and appear as dark yellow and you are facing sun most of the day (winter) which make it looks quite terrible in any decent photography. The view itself is great and you can read the reg. easily still(for reg loggers).

Beware lot of room with single bed, the bed couldn't be any smaller! (On a US standard)

I've stayed in this hotel 20-30 times in the last couple of years. Sam is right about the windows. They are darkly tinted, but you can still get some good photos. I have taken a few spectacular night photos from this hotel, on the 16th floor.

P.S. The Radisson down the streed is not quite as nice of a hotel, but it offers better fews, and clearer glass.

No info

The Embassy Suites has great views looking north of the north runway approaches. Rooms have a sliding glass door that opens onto a very tiny little balcony...but at least it's a clear view of the planes. No glass.

Any one ever stayed at the Crowne Plaza at LAX. It's on Century Blvd, along with all the others. Just wondering what kind of view to expect.

Crown Plaza glass are also kinda tinted, but if you don't take photos, just spot and log, it should be good. Sun always face you in winter if you have a room looking south side.
