As being a good friend of Kjell Nilsson I can only agree with you Gary!
Kjell used single focus lenses, that is 50mm,100mm and 200mm, at that time and Kodachrome 64. The slide is scanned in a Minolta DiMAGE scanner.

Yes, Kjell is one of the best uploaders of old slides here.

I like this one a lot.

Another old-school photographer who's stuff I admire is Frank Duarte ... all of his stuff uploaded here is from Kodachrome. I am fortunate to live close to him ... he's got an automatic invite to our slide shows, and his stuff always makes the crowd drool.........

Kjell has been an important factor in documenting the old days here in Scandinavia, and in good quality too.
After a slide show seeing his stuff I need medical attention  Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow!
How many guys have shot Interswede DC-8 and TransPolar 720 and Mey-Air 737 + CV240 ?????

Kjell has also been an important factor in this hobby for me as an fellow aviation photographer, being a close friend of mine for some 24 years now.

He has, in deed, an impressive photo collection...

...just started to scratch the surface of it so far...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

He Guys (Johan, Kjell, Jan)

Was aviation photography more popular in Sweden in the eighties and seventies, than say in the UK? Or are you just represented better here at A.net?

Me being a foolish old sentimental (ask Tim and Peter), I always open up the older stuff. So keep 'em coming.

Hi all

I agree, the older stuff appeals to me more every day.

The Scandinavian stuff is amongst the best, along with all shots taken at LHR, PIK, LGW, GLA and the likes.

Mey-Air.....anyone with more info on them again? I remember seeing ones of their 737's on some old film with Sean Connery.....hijack I think.

Give me an oldie, shot in Scandinavia and in the snow........and I'm in heaven  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Cheers

Hi Martin,
I think we are just lucky to have Kjell and Johan and Mr Söderström uploading here. I don't think very many were active in the early days. I never met anyone...
I know the Swiss were on it early, so were the Dutch, and I would think the Brits were as well.

Hi all

Jan, the film was The Terrorists.........some hijack in Scandinavia.

I forgot about that airline website, my old VY 747 shot is on there, despite my name being David Watt!

Jan,

I thought the same thing. So, it must be the cold Swedish winters that make people buy scanners and upload their gems.

Hi all

When I 'met' Johan at LHR a few years ago, I would have been able to compliment him on his pictures if I knew who he was.

Instead, I blocked his view most of the time by standing in the way  Wink/being sarcastic
Not deliberate though........... Wink/being sarcastic

Hi all

And for the Scandinavians, I regularly used to watch the trailing SAS 747's Viking scheme over Aberdeen on the way to New York. Flight number was SK 901...from Copenhagen I think.

No digitals or the Simga lens available then  Smile

Cheers

Gary

I love it when older photos look like new ones.

This shot by Howard Chaloner gets my vote. I'd swear this was taken last week with a DSLR:

Johan

So Anders was the other guy.....didn't know that.
Maybe you did tell me, cannot remember.

It was a good day that day, nice warm and sunny.

Not sure if we have same images/same day on the database. Will need to have a look.

Regards

Gary
