Much to my regret (707cmf will laugh), the C-730 is the superior camera of the lot.
The S5000 is very noisy as minimum ISO is 200, the Minolta is slow and produces not-so-good-quality pics, the Olympus is a bit better but it's more like a case of the one-eyed being better then the blind (French saying).

I would recommend neither - upgrade to a Canon or a Nikon.

Why not waiting with buying a camera and spending more money in a bette
But your cam hasn't to be more expensive than your car, decide which results you want to get!

Rumor is that Pentax is supposed to be comming out with a cheaper version of it's *ist D digital camera.

OBAMA-WORST PRESIDENT EVER....Even SKOORB would be better.

Thanks for your help!

I have spent the past couple of days reading through detailed reviews of these cameras and others, and I think I am going to go with the Minolta Dimage Z1 (it takes an SD which is great because then I can view the pics on my PDA).

The picture quality seems to be ok for what I want it for (holidays and perhaps the occasional trip to the airport). Also, a lot of the functions can done automatically or manually.

Here is an example of the quality of pictures it takes;

(sorry, I don't know how to make it into a link)

Anyway, thanks for your help

Best Regards,
James

In case anyone is interested, I got the Minolta. So far the quality has been excellent. I haven't taken any pictures of planes yet, just black and white still lifes. The large zoom is excellent, and although some reviews say you need to use a tripod when using full zoom I have found that not to be the case ( I have a very staedy hand which helps).

Anyway, thanks for your opinions.
