Are There Any "Cheap" DSLR's?

Tue Feb 24, 2004 3:16 am

I am looking into DSLR's and and wondering if there are any very nice but inexpensive ones?
I also have heard of one with an interchangeable film-digital back.

Does anyone have any more info about this?

Thanks,

define cheap?

There's nothing in the sub-$1000 class (unless you call $999 or so for a 300D or D70 sub-$1000  Smile).
Personally I don't see ANY DSLR that catches my fancy costing below €3500...

At that price you then get functionality of a regular SLR costing less than half that...

Do some research. Nikon D70 due out in a matter of weeks will be the new benchmark of performance for the money. Check out http://www.dpreview.com and go to the cameras section on the left, or go to the buying guide and do a side by side with the D70 and 300D. You'll see very quickly that the D70 blows the 300D away in just about every category. I'm on the list to get one later this year. Can't wait!
