Day Shot Rejection(s)...sorry Again :)

Tue Mar 23, 2004 11:30 pm

Hello, me again! I am very confused about this shot, as to why it was rejected as I thought it was actually pretty good. Any input welcome!

(Making the link didn't work, so I am only putting the unlinked url)

Thanks!

Apologies,
The rejection reason is the following (don't know which shorthand it is, so here's the full paragraph:

**********
The photos were of low esthetic qualities - bad angle, included
window reflections (for shots taken through glass such as terminal windows),
pictured just a part of an aircraft (with no motivation, like a special
sticker, damage etc., for doing so), out of focus, distracting or
obstructing objects in the foreground or similar (this is especially true
for gate shots which are very difficult to get accepted due to their common
nature and the large amount of ancilliary equipment which usually surrounds
the aircraft) or did not picture an aircraft or anything sufficiently
related to aviation at all. Finally, you might read this because your camera
displays the date in the lower right corner of the image. If so, please
disable that feature in the future.
**********

Thanks,

Sebastian

Hmmm, not sure how to relate it to the rejection text you supplied but a couple of things come to mind when I look at that shot:

1. It's backlit. This isn't to say that backlit shots can't get accepted but you've got a lot of strong light reflecting off water etc straight into the lens and detracting from the aircraft. The aircraft itself is pretty dark.

2. Badly cropped. You've managed to miss the last few inches of the left wing. If this how it is in the original then there's nothing you can do about it, but if you;ve cropped the original try again with either a tighter crop on the nose, or a wider crop to include the winglet. If you crop in on the nose and adjust levels a bit more you may improve the light on the fuselage and lose some of the distracting reflections

Hope this helps!

Cheers!

Don't forget that tail! I really like someone trying something different than the rest of the shots on here. My issue is that cutting a big part of the plane makes it look like a jp.net shot. I really like the detail that is shown. If you are able, I would crop from nose to tail rather than exhaust to wing. Best of luck with future uploads.

I think it was a nice attempt, nice effort. The lighting and the chopped off winglet kill it, IMO.

If you got all of that plane it would have been an awesome pic...Artie

Thanks TJ for the support  Big grin. Unfortunately, the pic is basically the way it was taken, just since I rotated a bit, I had to crop some on the sides. The beast was taxiing by relatively fast, so I had to be quick, and I suppose I didn't pay enough attention at the centering. Anyhow, thanks all for your reply, I will try to improve next time I go out!

Hi LHSebi !

Just wondering, what kind of camera do you use ? Not like it would have anything to do with the rejection (great quality!) just curious  Smile
