How Can One Clean Negatives?

Sat Mar 27, 2004 6:19 am

I have either stuck dust of dried water droplets on my B&W negatives. Is there any way of cleaning this without special $100 formulas?

Hi Martin

Thought some of the slide/negative scanners here could help.

Apart from the specialist solution, I did read somewhere that mild soap and water would do the trip. Maybe I am wrong.

Best bet would be to search the Internet for 'Negative cleaning' and see what you can find.

I don't know how bad the damage is, but I never clean slides before I scan them, just flick the frame to get the worst stuff off and take care of the rest in photoshop.
