Scott,
i see in your profile that you already have a Nikon so the D70 would be the best choice for you as you can still use your lenses you already have.

Scott

As Peter mentioned, if you have a Nikon already, why not go for the D70?

I ain't got a clue about the Nikons but I suppose it works OK.

Cheers

Scotty,

I'd agree with Peter & Gary, if you've got the Nikon compatible lenses already then you may as well stick with the D70.

I used to have Nikon gear but when I chose to go digital there were no affordable DSLR bodies around. I ended up selling it all on e-bay and buying into the Canon format. That said, two weeks after I bought the D30 Canon announced the 300D !!

As for training to use it... I'm sure we're all happy to help out as much as we can but really the best advice I can give right now is to read up as much as you can about the various subjects that are concerning you but more importantly take lots and lots of shots and have fun experimenting with it. Just keep reminding yourself that you're no longer having to pay for either the film or the developing!!!  Big thumbs up

Cheers!

Like what the others say, I would go for the D70. If you can, go to a camera shop to test one out, you will be impressed! I recently got to play around with one and had very good impressions (Build quality is better than the EOS-300D) I already have a Nikon N60 myself and that's why I am looking at Nikon's D-SLR range instead of Canon's.

That is very good for your camera at home and how is your shooting with the digital camera doing? Is that not too blurry for the digital camera either?

Rez,

The same happened with me, except that the 300D was already announced and I even ordered it, but due to the delivery delays, I decided to go instead for the second hand D30. And I think I did the right choice.  Smile

ScottysAir,

If you think you want also to upgrade your lenses, you can still determine to pick a Canon instead of Nikon. If the D70 would have been around the time I changed my SLR into DSLR, I would have stayed there with Nikon.

Personally I think the D70 would be better for you than the 300D. Another question is, what kind of lenses you want to have in the future and how much you can afford on them.
