Compact Flash Cards - All Alike?

Sun Apr 11, 2004 5:08 am

There seems to be a wide range of prices for compact flash cards. I note where I can get a Sandisk 256 MB for less than $50. Are these things created equal? Is one brand significantly better than another?

Eh, I'm not too sure on the difference between the brands, but I do know that the kinds of cards are not all alike. The higher end cards have a high write speed (I think that's what it's called). It allows data to be written to the card faster. However the higher end cards will be more expensive. I know that Lexar is a decent brand of cards but I don't know about the others.

Sleekjet,

Here's a good site for CF card performance comparison.

I recently pick up 512mb Viking CF card for $88 after rebate at Amazon, although I think the deal is over.
