Nikon DK-5 Piece, What Is It For?

Wed Apr 14, 2004 3:42 pm

Hi!

I just got the Nikon N80, and there is a piece included which is coded as DK-5,

i have read instructions many times and i just do not get what this piece is for,

Could anybody explain it to me? It is said that in order to avoid straight light for any reason i should put this piece somewhere, when using the timer.

I am quite confussed.  Sad

Thank You!

It is designed to snap onto the 110 adapter on your camera, as a replacement. Pull off the old adapter and slide this one into place. Its purpose is to seal out unwanted light from entering the camera.

I guess it is a piece for your viewfinder.

It's probably a cover to put over the viewfinder when it's not used, ie when taking long exposures at night with the camera on a tripod. Since your face isn't covering the viewfinder light can get in that way and reach the film while it's being exposed.

Hi Staffan

I think i got it. You are right it seems this piece is supposed to do that. I never thought light could get into the film by the viewfinder.

I guess i have to take out the rubber piece and then insert the DK-5 one.

Thank You for your help!!
