What's Wrong With My Photo?

Fri Apr 16, 2004 7:18 am

Hi Guys,

I just received an email from the screener that my photo of Southwest B737-7H4 N711HK was rejected. I still don't understand why the screener doesn't like my photo.  Sad Also, my other two photos were rejected.  Crying That screener made me very unhappy.

Any suggestion or recommend would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

John,

Read the e-mail sent to you and you will see the reason for the rejection. Then you can act on it.

Having looked at the photo, a couple of points from me...
1. The underside of the aircraft looks a bit dark... can you lighten it a bit?
2. A lot of dead space around the aircraft.... crop tighter
3. Compression artifacts in the sky...what jpg compression setting did you use?

Hope that helps!

Here is what the screener wrote...

"- n711hk.jpg (Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-7H4)
The image quality of these photos is low. This may be the result of several
perceived problems happening simultaneously, such as grain, blur, lighting,
contrast or color defects, which would lead us to believe that a fresh scan
(in the case of a non-digital image) or a complete rework starting with the
original camera file (in the case of a digitally taken image)would be necessary,
rather than a simple adjustment to the uploaded file."

You might want to play with curves and give it some very needed sharpening, but I'm afraid after that, you might be left with a grainy sky, or something of the sort.

Might want to play around with photoshop a little bit.

Was it digital?

How big was the original? You could have cropped/resized it better to bring the plane larger, I am surprised they did not give it "baddistance". the details on the plane are kind of small.

Sharpen a bit more and apply more contrast. Also, aircraft looks soft IMO
Not to mention you should crop it tighter!
