Limit Of 30 Pictures In Queue?

Mon Apr 19, 2004 7:18 pm

Dear photographers

Since this weekend I was surprised that there is a limit for the number of pictures you can have in the upload queue. At this moment I have 43 but that is not the problem.
My problem is that I have a picture of an aircraft in a new colorscheme which is completely new in the database. I'll love to upload it but HOW?

Is there a possibility to upload special pictures. I mean really special pictures. Not the 100th Lufthansa B747 in Star Alliance colors but pictures I have now.

Anybody with suggestions?

Regards
Aart

If the picture is "newsworthy" then e-mail the screeners with the reg details ...  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

we will take a look at it without having to screen all your pics.

Just wondering. Why would you want to have 43 pictures in the que at the same time? ???

I think the problem is actually the fact that with the new limit, he cannot submit it in the first place...

To make sure there is a 30 upload limit enforced  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I guess he has uploaded those pictures before there was a limit, no?

Aart,

I think that is what the upload limit is all about!

Having the limit of 30 uploads doesn't mean you HAVE to upload those 30 photos. What I would do (and will do) is upload max. 20 shots at once so you can still add one or two newsworthy pictures or other special stuff you know you want to upload them ASAP.

If the screeners can't help you, I can only say you are the first victim of the new upload procedure. Be more careful in the future.  Wink/being sarcastic

Joge, duh I understand that, its just that I fail to see the reasoning behind having 43 pics in the que at 1 time....

Joge. You are right, They were already uploaded before the limit of 30 was set.
That's the problem I am dealing now. For the future I will keep a certain barrier for the "special" photo's. I'll notice them most of the times when I am work them out with the software I am using.

Wietse. See above and I am making a lot of pictures for my hobby. And since I have bought a real good digital. The quality of almost every picture is that excellent that I can upload them. Normally when there are already 50+ pictures of the same aircraft in the database and the picture is not very special I am not trying to upload it anyway.

Tony.............Can you give me the e-mail via my e-mail address in my profile?

Sorry you are absolutely right. The 48th picture of a KLM 737-400 backlit at 06 is worthy of uploading.

Of course, when using a decent camera, the quality of pictures can be quite good. But that doesn't mean that you produce an interesting picture. I highly doubt you have 40+ interesting pictures from a day of photography at the very overphotographed airport of Amsterdam.
The max-30 rule is already showing it's effectiveness...
I'd say, be (a lot!!) more selective with what you upload in the future...

BTW, Wietse:  Big thumbs up

As mentioned before. My high number of pictures in the queue were already there before this new rule was installed. Let me make clear that I have absolutely no problems with that.
I think everybody is passing by my question how to get a really special picture uploaded. For example I have now a picture of an aircraft with an existing registration but flying now for another airline in complete new colors which is not in the database untill this moment.
I will send it straight to the screeners by email now for this time, but in the future I will keep some spareroom in my updates as one of you has already written.

Just keep a two or three image buffer for just such a situation. As to the scenario you mentioned, old reg. at another airline.... is there something special to that? Something that "just can't wait"? Just curious.

Aart, sending the picture to us as an attachment won't work.

So what exactly is that special picture of a new colorscheme, Aart?
New Martinair colors? The first A330-200 for KLM?  Big grin

I have send it in via the normal upload page.
It is the first picture of G-STRE in Iceland Express colors. Former operator Astraeus Airlines. I have lots of room now in the queue because my photo's are just came through.

G-STRE in Iceland Express colors IS NOT a high priority upload, unless Iceland Express have a new color scheme, because we already have pictures of Iceland Express 737s in the database - how would you feel if every new BA A319 got priority treatment?

We will give priority treatment only to the following:

* New airlines
* New color schemes
* New types for an existing airline

Please also be aware that whilst we might be slightly more lenient as far as rejection standards are concerned if a given registration/type/color scheme is not in our database already, being more lenient IS NOT the same as giving priority screening.

Photographers who make a regular habit of asking for priority screening of non-priority subjects risk a ban.

Just checked the queue. G-STRE is wearing standard Iceland Express colors, so no priority upload.

Sorry I have upset you Andy. This was not the way I meant it. Actually it was the first time that I have something like this and because I have seen sometimes that other photographers add "First picture of this registration in the database".... with the next new Southwest 737, I thought it was common.
My excuses and it will never happen again.

Those statements about being "first" in the database could very well be true, but it does not mean they asked for them to be added with any special priority.

Embraer145,

You haven't upset me at all. I just needed to explain the guidelines for hot subjects, and therefore why we wouldn't process the picture quickly anyway. We are discussing (internally) whether this is a problem that needs to be solved, but if we were to put in place a system in the future its success (or failure) would depend on everyone understanding the guidelines and following them.

As mentioned Jeff, I am trying to upload pictures since two months. It was a case of ignorance.
