Arrrrghhhh, they (TSA
) have done it again! Pasted below is a letter from the FLL
Acting Director to a buddy of mine. FLL
must be chock full of terrorists because air shows are operating without restrictions all over the country, usually with only yellow police tape separating the crowds from the performing aircraft and nothing to keep folks from walking around and climbing on static display aircraft. FLL
has a tall chain link fence with barbed wire on top and that's not enough? FLL
could put a cop or two in a car nearby to ensure safety from the moms and dads and kiddies watching aircraft taxi out and come back for landing. The insanity continues.....
Thank you for your recent e-mail to Commissioner Parrish asking if the Ron Gardner Memorial Site "viewing area" will be open to the public for the 2004 Air & Sea Show.
Please be advised that at the direction of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA
), the viewing area will be closed from April 28 through May 3, 2004, for security reasons.
We realize that the viewing area provides recreational enjoyment for aviation enthusiasts; however, during events such as this we rely on federal and local recommendations as they affect the safety and security of all our residents and visitors.
Thank you for your continued interest in this matter.
