Nashville: Good Spotting?

Sat May 08, 2004 11:19 am

Passing thru Nashville the other day and happened to grab a shot of an area that looks like you could get a few good shots. I remember passing this same area a few months ago and seeing a TSA or an Airport Police truck at the bottom of the hill there. Just wondering if theres a good place to stop for a few minutes next time and grab a few shots.

Yay Pudding!

There's a public viewing area on the west side (east of the Vought plant on Briley Parkway) that's nice to shoot from. But the last time I was there at the end of March they had huge dirt piles forming in front of it and I suspect that some building will be going up there. I'll let Paul Robbins give an update on that - he's there all the time.

Good! If you want go to BNA for shooting with the pics into the viewing area and ask someone will help you out with all of those information.

If that shot you have is from I-40, Paul would have more details on an area that is higher up and would be a great place for taking pictures for aircraft landing or taking off on runway 2L/20R. That damn pile of dirt is still there at the Vultee Blvd viewing area, but you can work around it. There are plenty of places to park a 18-wheeler just behind the Vultee Blvd viewing area also! Last I heard a building was not going up in there. I really don't know what is happen over on that area of the airport, most of what was left of the old parking area of the old terminal area has been bull dozed. They have even moved the Embraer Aircraft Maintenance Services parking area on to part of the old terminal ramp area. I have not asked the airport public relations if I can take photos from this area yet. Unfortunately over by the Security Building, which was a great place to take photos on runway 2R/20L, they have put up another fence, which cuts down the runway shots tremendously. You have to get permission to take photos over there; it's really not worth it anymore.
