Photo On Swedish Television

Tue May 18, 2004 5:02 am

I just saw a program on swedish TV. The channel was TV4 and the program
was "Kalla Fakta" (Hard Facts). It was an investigating program about the
deportation of two alleged Egyptian terrorists back to Egypt. They were
transported from Stockholm - Bromma airport to Egypt on N379P.
I recognized one of the pictures in the program as this one:

I hope Louis Goncalves has got compensation for the use of his photo
from this swedish TV channel (I have also sent an email to him to ask
if this is the case or if the TV channel has used his photo without
permission).

Don't wanna jump to conclusions here, but generally those tv stations are a bunch of thieves. I've seen about a dozen photos used on dutch tv where photogs weren't compensated.....

Yes Twistedwhisper. If I get a reply from Luis that he has not been
contacted by TV4 about using his photo I will myself contact TV4
about this.
Cheers, Janne.

Hi Janne

Thanks for the warning and email. I had been previously contacted by the TV journalist and given permission to the use of the photo.

It is good to the see that the members of this site are looking out for possible misuse of our photos. I like this and hope that we can keep helping each other hunting down those who steal our shots.

Best regards
Luis

Dear all, first I want to thank you all for the immense help you have given in standing up for human rights.

It might seem odd to bring a subject like that up in a forum like this, but believe me, it is appropriate.

The fact that so many of you were able and willling to support us in the investigation of the CIA-run worldwide kidnappingoperation kalled Extraordinary Rendtion made a huge difference to the program that we aired yesterday. (Can be watched on http://www.tv4.se/kallafakta/lopsedel.html were you also can find a full manuscript in English.)

And, please be assured that I deeply respect your copyright and of course have cleared all publication of material with the copyrightowners.

Yours

Sadly, most of the TV stations do not ask for permission just for using an image... I think a polite email to them where you tell them to pay you an appropriate fee because they used the image without permission might hopefully clear up the problem

Good luck anyway...

Luis, I am glad to hear that this was handled correctly by the TV4 channel
and I apologize to TV4 (Fredrik Laurin) for questioning this. Just wanted to
make sure the photographer gets his due credits.
Interesting to see a.net pictures appearing in other forums than the
old a.net itself.
Cheers, Janne.
