Why The Slow Queue Recently?

Mon Jun 07, 2004 3:24 pm

Not trying to start a firestorm, but I was just wondering why the queue is nearly at 10,000. Is the 30 upload limit still in place? Wasn't it supposed to shorten screen times?

Last month it seemed to move fairly quickly. Now that it's June, perhaps a lot of screeners are taking vacations (wonder if they're at SXM!! Smile)
I'd rather shoot BAD_MOTIVE

Probably just the summer months, I mean hey, these guys have lives, too.

I foresee this thread getting locked, but that's just me.

Hi all

Yes, screeners have lives too.

If I were to choose between sitting inside and screening endless, repetitive pics or go outside in the nice sunshine and shoot with my new 100-400........I know what I would choose.

Getting paid for shots is an added bonus also  Wink/being sarcastic

Cheers

There is an advantage for slow screening, your new photo's would not get lost in the new additions  Smile, and thus get higher views

I have just purchased a Nikon D70 and the weather has not been too bad for Winter here so I have been trying it out. I haven't really relaxed on the HOURS I spend screening yet. When I get my new tele lens.... ahhh now that's another story!  Wink/being sarcastic

Back to screening  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

It's normal to get a bit wound-up about the queue length at times - It's human nature. I'd be lying if I said I didn't moan about it once in a while.

That being said, I've never waited more than a week, and I've had one or two screened very quickly when someone has obviously been browsing the queue.

All good things come to those who wait!

You must be very lucky.
I have a pic in the queue that have been there for 6 days, there are still 3842 photos and 652 photographers.

Not that I am complaining, I really have other things to do than upload on A.net there days.

It's not just us guys going outside and enjoying the summer.
Summer season always tends to bring massive increases in uploads. If you see the number of digital shooters alongside 06-24 at AMS during a summer's day you'll understand the queue length even better.
So help us out a little and be even more critical of what you upload. Big thumbs up

Antoine,

Perhaps I was lucky - I'm quite surprised you have that many in front of you. I figure an average of about 1000 a day seems to be about right.

Hope to catch you and William in MAN!

Cheers

As long as many photographers send quantity instead of quality the queue
will be too long. My photos included.

Antoine, I'm with you...

I uploaded a bunch more than a week ago and I also have 3223 pix and 540 photogs ahead of me...

At this rate, my pix won't be looked at for another week... I'm not complaining though(I just finished one job and am taking a week off before I start another - will go out today and buy a Canon 28-105 lens today and shoot the WW2 Memorial here in Washington DC.)

And Aaron - you must rock! Or did your uploads last night piggy-back on some of your that were in the queue from last week?

Even with a bunch of photos in the queue, the average is still well under ten.

Given all the previous discussion about first in - first out. I gotta believe it is easier on the screeners to see all of a photographers work at once. Continuity of quality, either good or bad, will be apparent in the batch. Jumping from one photographer to another and back would stretch out the screening. Not sure if this is on track but it makes sense to me.

7965 photos and 1363 photographers are currently before you in the queue (the number of photos may increase, not the number of photographers).

I can forsee a long wait ahead of me  Sad

Not that it matters, I only upload my best here the rest go elsewhere....  Big grin

Anyway I uploaded my 22 on Saturday Night, they were from when I went to the AVP at MAN to test my lens, anyone see me?

I'll be off there again Saturday, it's practically my second home!

My pics are so timeless that it doesn't matter if they're added today, tomorrow, next week or next month ...  Nuts
