You can go near the end of pier 2, (gate 20s) 3 (gate30s), 4 (gate40s), there are glasses at each end of the pier facing the taxiway and runway. Just watch out the reflection on glasses at time. Hope this help.

Thanks for the info guys.
So the airport security or police is no issue there?

Peter,

I once flew HKG-BKK-CDG and left HKG at 0800 to connect with the 2359 TG flight to CDG. Travel agent thought I was a nut! No problems at all in the transit area. Have fun!

Peter,

No problems with airport security for the terminal shots. But I do find the glass a tad tinted and if its even a little hazy outside, the shots don't come out good. You should think about a ramp visit. It's not cheap though but can be arranged. Email me (through my profile) if you need details.

Andrew's a NUT, and we all know it  Smile

Note that lately, they check your boarding pass at the entrance to each pier and if your boarding gate is not in that pier, you will not be allowed past the security check.

This means you are effectively confined to the pier where your flight departs from or you could shoot from the main terminal building connecting the various piers.

Previously the end of pier 5 was excellent as it had floor to ceiling glass panels. Lately, this area has been blocked off as a holding room for flights at the end of the pier. When no flight is boarding there, you may be able to go to the glass for photography. Give it a try, for this is where you get nice rotation shots on 21R.

Thanks for all the answers. We ended up at the 20 gates trough the glass. We had no rpoblem to get in there although our departure gate was 11.
