Incorrect Info On Photos In The Upload Queue

Fri Jun 18, 2004 1:26 am

All,

We're getting quite a few e-mail requests to change incorrect information on photos that are in the queue. A few things for you all to note:

1. Please check data carefully before you press the final OK - that's what the review after the upload is there for. Use the drop down lists and "I feel lucky" functions as this will result in less errors - correcting errors wastes our time

2. We CANNOT change details on photos in the queue without screening the photo

3. We're not going to give you priority screening (see item 2 above) just because you've got some info wrong

4. Its unlikely we'll remember you got some information wrong by the time we get around to screening your picture in turn

5. So, if you do notice that you've submitted a photo with incorrect information, your choices are:

a. You can ask us to reject the photo badinfo and you can submit it again
b. You can wait and see if it gets rejected badinfo when its processed
c. If it doesn't get rejected, you can submit a correction for yourself once the photo is on the database

Hope this makes sense,

Andy

And may I use this topic once again that for manufacturers like Boeing, both the C/N and the L/N MUST be inluded.

It's amazing how many people upload pics on a daily base with the c/n's and without the l/n's, while this is clearly stated in the explanation field.

Thanks

I have two different resources for getting c/n's and l/n's, but sometimes niehter have them (Anet is one of them).

I add them whenever I can, but if it were easier, the ones I leave blank would be filled in as well.

Any recommendations?

Whoops, I'm guilty of the email-correction by.. hopefully just one instance. Won't happen again  Innocent

Bigphil Have you tried the FAA's N-Number lookup? It's good for planes registered with an n-number. Gives all sorts of neat info. For planes without an N-number such as the foreign carriers, try Google. Chances are you'll find it!

I try to include c/n when I can remember to for the little guys. For the airlines, I try and use the automated feature that pulls up everything about the plane. I also go through my archive now and then to add c/ns when I find them.

For example, for G-BYAJ (Boeing 757-200), for the cn field you would enter:
25623/528
...not:
25623

And remember to always try the Auto Complete function  Big thumbs up

Jaspike

So the 528 part of 25623/528 is the L/N? What does it stand for, line number?

C/n + l/n for Boeings and Douglas/MD's can easily be found at http://www.aerotransport.org/, http://www.airlinerlist.com/, http://home.hccnet.nl/p.w.riool/main.html and other sites.

I have been guilty of a few errors recently. I changed my email address for my photos, but when uploading a new photo, the autocomplete feature on the upload page switched my email back to my old.

Clearing it from the MRU (Most Recently Used) cache fixed it. To do so, clear the contents of the email field, and click. You should see a list of all entries, which you can scroll throught. Hit the DEL key on the selected entry and it will be deleted.

Sorry for the error.

This does raise a question however. Now that we can see our pictures in the queue (thanks!), can we see and correct the info belonging to it as well? I could see how this would present a problem if it is being screened however.

What about body numbers that don't directly tell you what the regi is?

I recently got a badinfo rej on a Comair CRJ. I am assuming it's because I didn't include a regi, but I don't know what it is. I se a body number "7796", but how do I deduce the registration from that?

Another thing is to make sure the Airline field has an operator included.

Been seeing too many coming through with nothing in this field, if I'm not felling nice and don't want to fill in the info for you I will reject!

Cheers

Hi all

And you will get some fanny's adding under the aircraft type as, i.e. '737'

While I could fill in the full Boeing 737-xxx, this is an instant reject as it's total lazyness from the photographer......or total stupidity.

Cheers

Before this can be allowed, a secured means of allowing each photographer to access their own images and only their images has to be implemented. To do this, it'll be necessary to have a process for photographers to register on the site in a similar way to that in which forum participants are already registered - please don't read anything into this about costs, its a means of identifying each photographer and allowing them to access their own material. Johan is working on this and it'll be launched in due course.

Skymonster I'm happy to hear that Johan is working on that! No doubt it'll help make corrections easier and take some load off the screeners. A.net gets better everyday  Big thumbs up
