What I like about Phil's shots is he knows how to think and doesn't just press the button everytime an a/c comes in.

He pushes his artistic ability with the limits of a.net.

Great job...

BTW - Sam, have a great flight and be sure to take some pics for our viewing pleasure.

Departing very light on its way to Dulles, this 744 rotates very early, just past the runway intersection!

How much runway did he use?

Oh, com'on Sam, that was the most unnecessary comment. Cut the ''in your face'' attitude.

As for the picture, it is great as per usual. I personally like the Delta Airbus better.  Wink/being sarcastic

Ryan,
If you ever get the chance to meet Sam, apologize to him for that comment. Yours was the unnecessary one.

Phil, you know that 737's don't have any sort of airbus winglet right?

Haha I couldn't help myself  Acting devilish, I read your post earlier. Anyways great pic!

The 747 shot is a great angle. I suppose it helps being so tall  Smile

Hey folks,

Thank you so much for your comments. I'ts really flattering. It feels great to think back to just 4 months ago when I didn't even have a camera when I dreamed of hopefully one day taking photos liek this and seeing peopel enjoy them. If I didn't have a venue with which to share my pictures and for peopel to smile at them, I'd have zero interest in doing this.

As for the Saudi shot, I actually have two uploaded from that sequence. I felt that both shots came out nice, showing two very different unique angles that I had to share both.

I'd say the plane used well under 3,500 feet before the nose came up, maybe under 3K, which just surprised me. I knew ahead of time that it would be a light load, but I didn't expect that fast of a rotation on an 11,351 foot long runway.

The Delta is doing well. I just feel guilty that it got so many hits for the wrong reasons.

Sam, thank you for the thread, means a lot buddy. Cage match for sure. Maybe book something with the AI2004 folks to make our deathmatch the main event Friday night!!!  Big grin

Again, thanks a lot folks. It means the world to me.

747 rotation @ 3,500ft doesn't seem right. Excellent shot though, Phil!

Sam,

Sounds like you're having a great time !!

Phil Derner Jr is definitely worthy of that 10D camera - his photos keep getting better all the time...

And that's all I have to say about that.  Smile

I agree, it sounds crazy, but I might be wrong.

Have a look at this airport diagram of JFK (sorry about the site I'm linking to)

http://www.jetphotos.net/airports/kjfk/taxi.gif?PHPSESSID=53b1e59a22dae699a953c8e1294b8cdf

The plane departed on 4L, and the cross road right there in the photo is Runway 31L. The plane was airborne in the photo and hadn't even reached taxiway Juliet yet.

Maybe it's more thna 3,500, but take your guess on the distance.

Thank you for your comments. Means a lot.

Well, she reached V2 right AT Juliet. All the same, though.

Was it a rolling takeoff, Phil? Or did they throttle up then release the brakes?

I hate your photos, Phil...with a passion.
