Canon AE-1 Program

Fri Jul 02, 2004 12:02 am

Hello, I was wondering if the Canon AE-1 Program is a good camera for aviation photography?

P.S. Where are the best places to spot at PHX?

Thanks!

Ask Johan (Ljungdahl), or simply just check out his pictures.

Yes. Any camera will work (within reason). It's who's behind the camera that matters.

Used to have an AE1 for many years. Good lens and good film with polariser for sunny days and you'll do well. Slide rather than print (opinions anyone???) and get a neg/slide scanner.

Same here. I still use my AE-1 occasionally. That 50mm lens is just razor sharp. But manual focus zoom lenses are a bit tricky to operate in a dynamic environment like take-off and landings (I always used infinity). Fixed manual lenses are a better choice then...
Great camera, especially to learn the basics of photography with.
