Well it's great to be back in Sydney, but I have fond memories of my single AMS
day. Pity about the weather, but it probably made the day even more memorable.
I'm sure in a 15 minute period I had:
* Sun and Cloud
* Heat and Cold
* Rain and No Rain
* Wind and Still
I was going between 4 layers of clothing and raincoat through to a single layer. The Amsterdam weather couldn't make up its mind.
(TruckWorld saved me from some of the rain)
Apart from easy photography and lots of A.net shots (yes, these go hand in hand)... I think Sydney and Amsterdam have among the two oldest international airports... Likewise their home airlines, KLM and Qantas are the two oldest airlines (effectively).
The age of Sydney's airport makes it the smallest in terms of area of any of the capital cities of Australia (includes Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hobart, Darwin, Canberra). This is due to the fact that way back when the airport was built, it was almost the edge of suburbia. If you've been to Sydney now, you'd realise that it's almost on the doorstep of the city.
I was amazed by the massive size of AMS
Any of the AMS
guys have a neat map that could post here just for reference?
Okay now for the plug...
