Would A.net Accept This?

Wed Jul 14, 2004 12:05 pm

http://www.jetthrust.com/aviation-photos/viewimage.php?img=814&w=1024

Now first of all I know what you are thinking: "There is visable compression, and the tail is slightly cut off by the copyright bar." I can assure you that those are both faults of the site which I uploaded to. Unlike a.net, the copyright bar goes over part of the image, instead of adding onto the bottom. Also, the site compresses it a little too much for my monitor.

Anyway, would this be acceptable?

Also, Alex Kroychik, if you are reading this, could you post the Reg# for me? It came in around 5:30.

Thanks
Eric

You should upload it to myaviation.net...so people can get a better look at it. Since you claim the site is at fault for the image quality, it's hard to tell.

Hard to tell Eric, I'm working off my laptop, but it looks pretty good!

Eric,
You're still underexposing. You'll have to fix exposure before you upload it here.
Otherwise great shot!

Hisham.

Hisham:

Wouldn't I lose that deep blue hue in the sky if I bumped up the exposure? That is one of the things I love about this shot is the deep blue hues in the sky.

I set the metering on the aircraft and exposed at 0, I probably should have gone up a little bit, but I LOVE THOSE BLUES  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

You can selectively brighten the aircraft in photoshop.

I hate laptops....  Pissed I can't tell for sure, but it looks like Hisham is right. It is under-exposed. That is a tough angle to shoot by any means, but this is Airliners.net, not BlueSky.net....  Big grin What you can do is make a duplicate layer, mask off the aircraft, then adjust your levels, and then do a shadow/highlight recovery and adjust to bring out a little more exposure to the underside. Then flatten, sharpen, etc., etc., etc.,....... If you do it with a layer/mask, you'll retain the nice blue sky...!

Jeff,

You're the man, that's a good idea, I'll try that!

Thanks

Unfortunately the compression is about the same on this website, but I fixed the lighting.

This one is the one before I made the corrections that Hisham and Jeff suggested, but here it is:

It needs some sharpening...other than that, it's looking pretty good.
