Renting A Lens In The UK Your Help Required

Thu Jul 15, 2004 5:45 am

Hi all,

You may or may not know that an incident occurred on my flight back from Germany which resulted in me having to take my main lens in for repair.

It looks like I won't have it back for a while and with the trade days of Farnborough airshow approaching I am going to need to probably rent a lens.

Rez has told me about Fixation which I will probably go with but if any of you know any websites/shops which rent out lenses for a day/couple of days in the UK (pref. South East England) then I would be very grateful.

Many thanks

Ben Pritchard

LOL! That reminds me... a couple of weekends ago I was at the Woodspring Wings model air show (working the PSSA Stand) and got talking to this creepy guy... looked like he was trying to make himself look like a vietnam vet... fatigues etc but was failing miserably due to the huge Ray Ban aviator type shades and the Bristolian accent.... anyway I digress. This guy just went off on one and then in very secretive tones claimed to have insider knowledge of a surprise appearance at RIAT and FI2004....

... something that crashed at Edwards last year (he said)... I looked confused so he leans closer (bad breath!) and says..." The Raptor... the raptor is going to make a surprise appearance at Fairford and Farnborough!"

So there we have it folks.... you may just get a surprise after all!  Wink/being sarcastic

Cheers!

LMAO That one made me laugh Rez! I know exactly the type of person you speak of!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy If the Raptor was to show, I would have expected FI to be making a huge fuss over it. At least something to brighten up what's on the current list... I wish I was going to RIAT... Next year maybe, equipped with a 10D! Big grin

MSN me Ben, I have a 80-200mm Canon lens lying idle-the Bigma is also available since I got the new lens.

You would have to to get to LHR or somewhere close to pick it up but I've already lent Kevin Cadd the 300D twice and Paul Langfermann used my 75-300mm for a while so its not a problem.

The first 4 days at Farnboro' are strictly trade only (ie: no students) Friday is a special enthusiasts day as well as trade £40 entry. Sat/Sun are the packed public days.

Most of the stuff there this time is the same as 2 years ago.
