God Is Not A Photographer

Mon Jul 19, 2004 4:56 pm

I'm starting to take this personally. Summer is meant to be here. Beautiful women are supposed to come out of their winter hiding places and walk around looking nice. I'm supposed to be able to spend hours being sunburnt at the airport, maybe shooting the odd aircraft coming in. The queue should be at 30,000 because Gary Watt is supposed to be sitting in a deckchair at Aberdeen with a hanky on his head.

But no...

Apparently bad weather has a weekend reservation in the UK. And at 0800, as I walk out the door to go to work. It's a scorcher.

I'm going to write a very strong letter to my MP.
It takes a big man to admit they are wrong, and I am not a big man.

Sulman,

I agree this summer has been so frustrating. Personally I blame the Labour government, maybe they could make a 5 year plan to try and get the sun to come out soon  Wink/being sarcastic

Also god also doesnt seem to like Sigma lenses as even if the sun did come out my lens is still in repair so I couldnt make use of it anyway!

Cheers

Ben,

That must be frustrating...but at least the airport here is accessible at very small cost and time, so it's not too painful if the sun refuses to play.

Last week the weather in MAN was absolutely dreadful, and if it wasn't for the company I think I would have been in a catatonic sulk. Still, I think perhaps we've just been spoilt by a couple of pretty decent summers in the last two years.

Also god doesn't seem to like Canon cameras as my 10D is in repair and I cannot take any shots in Faro nor in Frankfurt...That is very frustrating.

This has become so rare this summer that I thought this might be worth to mention  Big grin

James,

I couldn't agree more with you mate. Check us on Saturday... We bitched about the crappy weather on MSN all day.. When it cleared up for 5 minutes in the evening, we literally pegged it down to SOU for some shooting. Not long after arriving we were surrounded by shitty clouds! Again....

After last weekend at MAN, I'm starting to get frustrated with this long spell of dull weather. Which isn't what you want! With the arrival of a very special piece of equipment in a few days, I bloody well hope it gets better!

If god was a photographer then I think every day would be a fine sunny day with plenty of action to shoot. Not only that, we wouldn't have to work all week! So more time for us to do the things we actually want to do!

Anyway, I know what you mean about taking the weather situation personally. It's getting to me quite a bit now!

I feel I have ranted for long enough!

Signing out,

Justin  Big thumbs up

Hi all
I don't think we've had a decent weekend since May.
There is hope though just seen the evening forecast and
High pressure could be coming our way by next weekend
fingers crossed & cameras at the ready.

Regards

Ian

I told you to stay away from those Dutch mail-order sites. Unless you're referring to the 100-400, in which case I'm just envious.

Totally agree with you James! This summer sucks!

MAN was depressing in terms of weather! It could of not been any worse to be honest! So annoying! Oh well as you say the company was good. Roll on AMS in Sep!

Oh and i think i know what JKW is expecting...

He did mention he ordered one of those Russian brides, i'm sure he's sitting patiently at the door waiting for the UPS man right now....... LOL

Sorry mate couldnt resist! Hope you get your 100-400 soon! You deserve it!

Yeah, the weather spoilt the photography at the MAN meet. Annoyingly, I was back on Tuesday evening and it was perfect weather!

And a 100-400 Justin? Very nice!
