BFI And PAE Spotting?

Mon Jul 26, 2004 5:39 am

Does anybody have any good current links to sites that show official or un-official spotting locations at these 2 fields? I'm taking a vacation in August and will be checking out the Boeing tour and Museum of Flight in Seattle as part of my trip and figured that since I'm going to be down there I might as well try to do some spotting for an hour or 2 at each location. Hopefully these are 2 airports that are more spotter friendly than some of the U.S. horror stories I've seen posted in the forums since 9/11. I'd hate to get arrested on my vacation.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

From an outsider's (non-SEA area) perspective, I was just at the Museum of Flight and its right up against the 31 (the long runway) threshold at BFI, and there is an area there that can be accessed for free right there through the museum...its also convieniently close to a Boeing ramp, which has the 757 testbed (the 1st 757 built with the funky stabilizer above the cockpit and fighter nose) right there and also 2 E-3's...I didn't want to venture too close to the fence though...have a good trip, and enjoy the Museum of Flight, its pretty amazing!!!

Spotterguides for BFI and SEA can be found here:

As for PAE, there is a good location next to BF Goodrich's maintenance facility. On the North side it's a little more difficult, but there is an OK spot by a storage facility that gives decent views ot the runway and final approach.

BFI is very photographer friendly. However, the only request I have had from security is NOT to shoot at aircraft on the Boeing Defense and Space Group apron, which has the F22 757 and usually a couple of E-3's there.

Also, there is Midfield parking lot just south under the tower along East Marginal. You are right next to the taxiway and very close to 31.

Many thanks guys. Hopefully I can get some A.Net worthy shots while I'm there!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy
