How Long Now?

Tue Aug 03, 2004 8:44 am

Just curious; I am new to a.net, and I was wondering how long it took NOW (since there are more photos, etc.) for them to accept or reject a photo that you have posted. The FAQ says it takes about a day, but they havn't even gotten to them yet. So, maybe a week? A month? Oddly enough, one of them got posted on myaviation.net, even though I didn't mark it for that. Oh well, just wondering (impatience is a virtue :-P ).

Samuel, I think you'd better brace yourself for a rejection letter.

That's not the only picture I took. That's just the only one that has been posted. It was posted at myaviation.net. I took a bunch of pictures, but I can't put any in the forum for you guys to look at because you have to load them from a website, and I don't have a website to load them onto.

You can put your email address in on this site: http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/photostats.main and then scroll to the bottom. You will see something to the affect of "You have _ photos waiting to be screened." Click on that link and you will see your photos. Open them up and get the links from the address bar and post them on this thread with <> around them.  Big thumbs up

Some of those pictures might not be Airliners.net quality. I do like the one with the US 757 facing the 747 on the far end.

To be honest, your photos need some work. Use a photo editing program like Photoshop to make sure your photos are level and properly centered to start off.

MAybe post some more pictures that you've edited in the future, or maybe email me personally every now and again for advice if you feel I'm worthy of offering my thoughts. bigphilnyc@yahoo.com. It is just a shame to waste time uploading and putting photos in the queue that stand little chance.

Your motivation is admirable. Keep working at it and you'll get there one day soon.

Good luck!

Yeah, like Phil said, some of those shots aren't a.net. But I think that you stand a chance, at least at this size, with Number 4 and possibly 2 or 3, but not both 2 and 3, because one will get Baddouble.

Also, right now it is taking in the order of around 2 weeks to screen pics. No they will not be seen in 24hours, that is a long dead memory  Nuts

The FAQ might say a day, but the feedback page, once the picture is uploaded says roughly a week.

On a related note, it is a bit much to upload that many picture if you don't have an experience of uploading on A.net . Things like that tend to clog the queue and contribute to the current state (well, that an middle fingers). I was adviced, two years ago when I started uploading, just to upload 3 or 4 pics at a time in order to begin with to gt me a feeling of what too upload and what not to upload. I'm sorry to say that both first US Airways, for instance will be a direct rejection for badmotive (aircraft badly cut) while the KL747 and the last AA picture will get axed for badangle (horizon not level), and the two last US Airways will probably rejected for baddistance (aircraft not occupying enough space in the frame).

Don't worry when you get the rejection, though, everyone has their photos rejected from time to time. A.net standards are very high. It is and should be
difficult to get photos accepted.

Cheers,

Thanks for all of your wonderful suggestions. This has been something that I've wanted to do for a while, and I hope one day I'll be able to take pictures that are worthy of a.net. Oh, and sorry about that f9wideBODY. I guess we could see why f9wideBOY is not that flattering.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Lets see, the 1st and 4th will not make it because on both you cut off too much of the aircraft (1st pic the tail, 4th the left wing). And as the 2nd and 3rd, im assuming they are the same plane, you should only pick the one you feel is best and upload one of the two. They can't accept photos which are practically identical.

The second and third and actually the same picture. I uploaded them only twice into the forum out of error, but thanks for your honest opinions.

1) No tail. Toast it.
2 or 3 not both) might make it. It depends on the clarity.
4) Bad motive almost guaranteed
5) Level the horizon, not the plane
6) Level it off
7) I like it
8) Level it

I am assuming all of these look un-straight since they are not full size in the forum. If they are full size, bummer. Whatever you do, keep trying.

The fact your looking up the backside of the airplane and 5/8 of it is cut out of the pic. I think if you had shot it looking the same direction except between the gears, and both wings were cropped a little, it might pass. Just a strange angle. Not trying to slam, just giving my thoughts.

Ahhh now I know what you told me in GVA yesterday.... I'm a cosmic fool  Laugh out loud

Samuel:

As already said, do not upload a lot of pics until you know they will make it for sure.
When trying "different" angles, upload a single shot and see what happens.
Think about the rejection, try to get advices from photographers who are good in terms of rejections/acceptances.

You will make it sooner or later.

cheers,
Florian
