Wrong...

Pertinent bit in bold - possibility for temporary periods from 1700 to 1900 local time, 4000 meters visibility, thunderstorms with rain and hail, broken clouds (i.e. most of the sky covered) at 3000 feet.

To clarify Andrew's forecast the forecast:

PROB30 TEMPO 1216 8000 TSRA BKN060CB=

Translation of which gives a 30% prob of Thunderstorms between 1300 and 1700BST. Therefore a 70% prob that it will not happen.

Plus it's a higher risk (40%) of showers at Nottingham East Mids and flying east may mean you can't get back in!

Jon, firstly I said possibility when I translater the TAF, and if you know aviation met properly you'll know that they only have PROB30 and PROB40 - one is essentially possible, like I said, the other is probable. The actual percent figures are to all intents and purposes meaningless. For what its worth anyway, this morning's 9 hour TAF has brought the times for the possible storms forward.

Was going to go and get Wunula on deaprture but it looks like the weather is going to ruin it.

And Gerry, you should have told me you were coming in-can't think of anything better to do on a sunday morning than go all the way around to 09L to shoot a BA320!

Matt,

We toyed with the idea of getting some departures but I thought we didn't have enough time, plus, we were roasting.

We're going to get down bright and early next time, and try and grab some climbout photos.

Cheers

Hi from what a friend told me Wunala wasn't along side the road on Sunday.

Also the EAST CHURCH crossing is going to be removed in December as the road is being diverted around the Back of the Hangars and then to Hatton Cross.

So get those crossing shots soon as once they remove the crossing their will be a high security fence there so photos will be impossible to take the info was posted on several spotters websites a couple of months back!

I didn't get a chance to see anything on the Tarmac yesterday, but I suspect haze may have been a problem - it was smoking hot early afternoon.

Sad to hear about the road. They need to re-open the Queen's building. There is simply no intelligent or fiscal reason to keep it closed, other than a pathetic lack of imagination on BAA's part.

Wunala definitely won't have been parked up on BA as the QF32 always stays lurking near T4 in the morning.

Lurch,
and the current works on the road that will be used from December prove it.

Next time you go to the crossing area look for the large yellow road works sign near the old CONCORDE engine test area which gives details of the road improvement works the actual information on the crossing being removed was placed on the main notice board at BA head office water side and on the HEATHROW spotters web site LHR@yahoogroups.com by D,APPS and on the Civil spotters website over a month ago and IM surprised that you haven't herd about it as its been common knowledge to the resident Heathrow Photographers and spotters since it was posted. But if you are still un-convinced just weight till December and watch the BAA block the road and erect a high security fence after redirecting the traffic around the back of the Hangars as it will happen.
