Never got hassled at any airport I visited in China (shooting photos in the terminal) this past summer. I visited PEK
, NKG, XIY, KWL, and CAN
) has a lot of interesting aircraft (e.g. Siberian Airlines IL
-86), but the glass in the terminal is horrible. Some of my photos came out with half the aircraft blurry, and the other half sharp.
Stopped by in SHA
but didn't get the chance to take any photos.
Nanjing's (NKG) terminal windows are tinted, so aviation photography can be quite tricky. You get the usual CZ
/CZ/MU/FM/MF/HU aircraft (mainly B737s) in NKG, nothing really rare.
Xi'an (XIY) was the airport that I had the most difficult time shooting photographs of aircraft . . . why? You are shooting through 2 glass walls (departure hall), which both are separated about 10 feet, not to mention all the glass beams in the way. Only when you arrive, you can shoot photos through 1 glass wall. Also, a huge chunk of XIY's departure terminal (past security) is only for passengers that are boarding at gates 1-*, (that's how I missed the XO
B73G taxiing in) So if your flight leaves at gate 10, but there is this nice plane you want to photograph at gate 1, tough.
I arrived Guilin (KWL) in the evening, and a lot of planes arrived at that time, including a FM
A320, and NX
A321. There is also a lot of CZ
aicraft there. Absolutely no traffic during the morning time in KWL.
The old Guangzhou has nice spots around the perimeter of the airport, old apartments overlook the the airport, all the way around (they must have a spectacular view!). The terminal is dirty and pretty confusing to get around. Lots of traffic though!
Hope that helps a bit!
