Calender Printing: Profitable?

Fri Sep 03, 2004 4:30 pm

Guys,

I received an email from Phyl Durdey, the Director of Training at Flightline Training Services asking to use an image of mine in their yearly calender given to customers. I am wondering what proper "sales etiquette" is and whether or not it is right for me to profit off of this. In the email, no money was mentioned which brings me to believe that I should just give the OK and ask for the calender to be sent to me.

The business:

Sorry for the plug... here is the image:

Your opinions? All the best,

There is a fine line between a picture and a photo. The latter seems to be disappearing.

I'd be tempted to charge.

Although the calendar is being given free to their customers, it's part of their marketing and client management. Thus, it can all influence their bottom line.

Cheers

You should not give away your image for free! Ask them how many calendars will be printed, how large, etc.... then tell them an appropriate price.

Either they accept and you are happy, or they do not accept - but you are still happy  Big grin

Good luck,

Guys,

The director anticipated only about 50 copies to be printed and I assume they will be at the standard size of around 8*10.

Tell then to send you a copy and you'll give them the image! I would not charge for that...

You should have stated that in the beginning then.  Big grin

I would ask for a copy of the calendar.
