Rejected For "Bad Info"?

Thu Sep 16, 2004 5:19 pm

Hello all.

Just received a message that three pictures where rejected due to bad info.

http://airliners.net/procphotos/rejphoto.main?filename=CondorA320D-AICA30-07-04.jpg
http://airliners.net/procphotos/rejphoto.main?filename=CondorB757D-ABOG30-07-04.jpg
http://airliners.net/procphotos/rejphoto.main?filename=ContactAirATR42D-BNNN30-07-04.jpg

The reason for this topic: This cannot be "Bad info". Condor is the official name of the airline again since May 2004. The fact that not all the aircraft are painted already with Condor titles can give some confusion indeed.
The same for the Contact Air aircraft. This aircraft is in service with Contact Air since March 2003. It is operating for Team Lufthansa by Contact Air.
Lufthansa Regional or Team Lufthansa are no names of airlines, but only brandnames used by Lufthansa for the regional flights. All the regional aircraft are operated by separate airlines like Contact Air, Eurowings and Lufthansa Cityline.
I have this info available because I have a website with all productionlists off all airliners. You can also check "JP Airlinefleets International".

I hope one of the screeners will check this and if possible and agreed, add the pictures to the database. Possibly the fast upload pages can be changed by the database editors too.
I normally don't post topics about rejected pictures when there is another reason. For this time I made an exception.

Regards
Aart Langevoort

You´re right,
Lufthansa Regional is NOT the name of an airline. It´s just a marketing idea.
Same for Team Lufthansa.

Those can be, and are indeed, badinfo rejections. If you look up the reggo on previous photos of the same aircraft, you'll see the format in which you put the name for the a/c is off of the standard. The most visible titles are primary, with the operating agency or parent company coming in parentheses following.

I always reccomend looking up previous shots of aircraft you're adding. Could lend you some nifty info, and definately helps you get the standardized info in. In fact, did the auto-complete not automatically give you the correct answer?

Mike.

I am one of the editors of a large database on the internet about productionlists. Let's make clear that Thomas Cook Airlines only excists in Belgium and the UK at the moment. Not the name at an aircraft makes it the name of the airline. Check JP 2004/2005. They only write about Condor and Condor Berlin.
Maybe all the photos taken after May 2004 have to be reviewed about the info? I know it is a lot of work, but it is the truth.

Rgds Aart

Ps. This is always a difficulty with a name change of an airline.
My point is to change it in the upload pages so it is noted correctly. Then these rejections are out of order.

You are absolutely correct. If I were you, I would re-upload the photos without changing a thing. If, in a month or two, they end up getting rejected -- then I suggest you take Johan Lundgren and his subsidiaries to court and sue him for slander and polygamy. With the earnings from the almost certainly favorable outcome, you can afford to pay Condor to repaint all of their aircraft with the CORRECT colors and logos, so every last one of the anal retentive spotters in this horribly unkempt world can be happy.

I'm with you man.

In this case it should be Thomas Cook (Condor), and Team Lufthansa (Contact Air).

Why not drop all the additions to the name and name only the airline. If you want to be that punctual????
As explained earlier: That's the problem with name changes.
Don't get angry please  Wink/being sarcastic I only try to keep the real name of the airline as standard. Not the billboard on the fuselage.

By the way...checked the selections given in the upload page and they give all options. Thomas Cook (Condor), Condor, Condor (Thomas Cook) and even Lufthansa !!!! is given as <-----Standardized.

Rafal

You can describe every deviation on the fuselage then in the "airline" section?
I've never seen any added fuselage titles as the name of an airline after it's changed. All the Star Alliance aircraft are arranged under the airline name and not under the fuselage titles name.
Be realistic the name of the German aircraft is Condor since May and not Thomas Cook anymore.

Aart,

Star Alliance is not an airline. It is just an alliance between airlines (of course you know that). Because they painted few aircrafts from each airline that makes it Special Color Scheme, not an airline title.
Team Lufthansa is nothing else but same thing as United Express. We are listing pictures of United Express marked "United Express (Mesa), or (Trans States Airlines), never plain United Express because United is hireing other airlines to operate their flights. So when you buy ticket on United Express it will show Unitet Express FL 3508 operated by Air Wisconsin or Shuttle America. Airlines in Team Lufthansa are also going by this rule when you are making reservation. But in fine print it will tell you that this flight is operated by Contact Air. Star Alliance is not an airline and thats why you dont put in the airline field Star Alliance (SAS, or bmi)

I hope I cleared this for you.

Regarding Thomas Cook, it might be different thing. If you said that this airline has changed name, then pictures taken after that date should be named correctly following our rules. This change (regarding Condor) hasn't been implemented in our database so screeners and photo editors were not aware of this issue.

I am not airline editor so further questions can be send towards database editors. Direct link to them can be found on About Airliners.net web page.

Thanks,
Rafal

Please read the airline menu help on the upload page because there you will find the answer to your questions. The appropriate guidelines are in rules 2 & 3, which I have reprinted below. In the case of the photos shown at top, the large titles still say "Thomas Cook" and therefore that's the first name that should be listed in the airline field. Since the smaller titles mention that it's "powered by Condor", you can put that info in parentheses so that the airline field reads "Thomas Cook (Condor)". You are of course correct in mentioning that officially the airline has been rebranded as Condor. Feel free to mention this in your remarks, but note that this particular aircraft has not yet been rebranded as such. I hope this explanation makes clear the rationale of the standardization crew. There are of course errors in the database but we are trying to eliminate the old mistakes and prevent new ones from being made. We appreciate your efforts to conform to our system of naming.

Edward

2. Airline aircraft with titles of two companies will be listed with both companies, whereby the most prominent one comes first, and the minor one will be between brackets, like "Delta Connection (Skywest Airlines)". Although names like "Team Lufthansa" are not really "companies", on Airliners.net we consider them as companies.
3. Airline aircraft with titles of one company, but owned by and/or operated by another airline company whose titles are not worn, will be listed with both companies, but with the untitled one between brackets, like "America West Express (Mesa Airlines). Leasing companies, banks, trust companies, finance houses and such will not be listed, unless they are painted on the aircraft.

What about fly-DBA. Still listed as Deutsche BA in the upload page. This is the same as the Condor aircraft. Please give me an e-mail adress for a message to the database editors. Maybe we can solve this problem for good then.
They are also free to use our database. Updated every month.

Thanks for your reactions. I hope a database editor can give a reaction too.

Regards

Aart

You can contact any of the airliners.net staff by having using the contacts on the "about airliners.net" page. You probably want to direct your queries to Peter Vercruijsse, the chief database editor.

Written two database editors now. One before the weekend and another one just a couple of days ago. No response till now. Maybe one of the screeners/editors of the site can contact them via the internal ways?
Uploaded them now with the wrong airline names.
Punctuality is a hot item with websites like A.net. Look to the screeners they are punctual with the pictures we upload. Which is very good to get a quality database. But why not punctual with everything.
I am punctual with my website too. I know a lot of people are using the website when sorting out their pictures.
Small example: All the ERJ-145's are mentioned here as Delta Connection, US Airways Express, etc and the airline name is between brackets. Actually the jets are operated by the Airline (Mesa Airlines, Chautauqua Airlines, etc) on behalf of the earlier mentioned Delta, US AW, United, Northwest etc. Place the expressname btween Brackets in stead of the actual airline.
It will be a matter of time before everybody is used to it.

Hopefully somebody of the A.net-team can pass this to the database editors if agreed of course.

Aart,

Indeed, your database is very useful...

About being punctual? Why not adding a Cn when uploading and the Cn is already available in the database by the "Auto Complete"function?

Hello Serge.

I always add the c/n during uploading with the "auto complete" function. And when it doesn't come out with the "Auto Complete" function, I add it mannually.
When there is no c/n with my photos it probably slipped through or was not available (the helicopters for example).
Try to be as pucntual as possible  Wink/being sarcastic
