Help With Rejections

Sun Sep 26, 2004 3:23 am

Hi all...

I wondered if you might have any suggestions that would help these photos get accepted:

badinfo - what am I missing? Is this USA-Marines and not USA-Navy?

and,

I wish I knew what information I was missing, though I was fairly lax with my information gathering at the site and didn't write anything down...

Thanks in advance for your help.

1st pic: Serial number (Registration in civil terms) is missing.

2nd pic: Everything looks very soft right up until the nozecone. If you get the chance, try shooting the pic with a higher F#, such as f16 or f20.

3rd pic: Looks good to me

4th pic: No serial number or aircraft type.
And all at once the crowd begins to sing: Sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same

In effort to improve the quality of the database and to further standardization, the screeners are getting tighter on USAF serials. Check out these sites for information:

Use this website to clarify your registration:
http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/usafserials.html

Then view 2001 page:
http://home.att.net/~jbaugher/2001.html

They need to follow the appropriate six digit format.

A serial number would be nice on the F-18, and did you check "nose"? The serial is wrongly entered on the C-17. The type and owner missing on the B-25 (and untitled is in the type area!!!) even though based on the file name you seem to know its a B-25!
There are old pilots and there are bold pilots, but there are no old bold pilots

Thanks for the replies so far...

yeah, I must have hit the "tab" key instead of the enter key on the B-25... I fixed it on a resubmit.

As for the other shots, thanks for the guidance. I don't pretend to know much at all about serials or registration numbers - one of the many areas of our hobby I need to "brush up" on...

Thanks for your help, and any further help you might suggest.

The F-18 must be Marines: they don't have Majors in the Navy

The F/A-18 could may have had a USAF exchange pilot or a Marine. The plane captain's (I think that is the naval term for crew chief) name on the nose gear door has a naval rate.

I used to keep notes on airplane info. With digital "film" so cheap, I take extra images of serials, registrations, unit assignments , etc. for catalogging later.
