Request Info On Spotting In AMS, CGK, DPS

Sat Oct 02, 2004 7:25 pm

Next Wednesday 6th October I am heading from Madrid to Indonesia for my holidays. I'll be stranded between 1530 and 2030 at AMS. Then on to Jakarta.

Any suggestions about where to head to during my stopover at AMS?
Any info about spotting at Java, Bali and Sulawesi?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

My website has info on spotting at Amsterdam, Jakarta and Denpassar.

Let me know how spotting at Jakarta was, I hope to visit Jakarta in November.

Thanks a lot for the detailed info. Actually it is not a spotting trip, but I'll try to use my chances.

I am not sure if I am going to spend time at Jakarta yet, but I'll keep you informed.

I checked out the AMS info and it seems I cannot get anywhere near the runways in the afternoon without a car. Does anybody know if there is a public transport option to get to the runways from the terminals? Is anybody going to be spotting at AMS on the 6th October?

Thanks in advance.

Please check my website: http://www.b7e7-pictures.4t.com. In particular the Kaagbaan will be worthwhile.

Peter:

A really nice web! Thanks a lot! Just one more question about the 26/04 Kaagbaan spot: I'll be at AMS from around 1630 to 1900, I do not think the sun's position will be good at that spot, am I wrong?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

the sun would be facing you if you go to the official spot, but you can also stand in the approach of 06/24. Then you will have the sun in your back. Another option is to go to the taxiway over the A4 motorway.

But if you only got 2 and a half hours you might be best off staying airside and watching planes from inside. The windows are large and generally speaking clean, and the terminal is nicely heated unlike most of the Netherlands! Big grin
