Converter, Decrease In Quality?

Hey guys

i have a question

i currently have a Canon300D and a 70-300mmUSMIII (canon) lens...i want a bit more zoom and if i would get a 2x converter would my quality still be good?? and how mutch would such a converter be (good one!)

No, don't even consider using a converter with the 75-300, I tried the 2x once and the quality was just awful, at all focal lengths.

Main trouble with a 2x teleconverter is that you lose 2 stops, so your lens, which is f5.6 at 300, suddenly becomes f/11.

What about the Canon 1.4X Converter with the 75-300 IS USM lens?

A 1.4 converter costs you one f-stop, so you'd be f/8 at full zoom - with the digital crop and the 1.4 converter you're shooting with the equivalent of about a 650mm lens, so you're going to need a very sunny day or a good tripod.
