Sensor Cleaning Question

Tue Oct 26, 2004 5:19 am

Every now and then the topic of sensor cleaning comes up, and I'd like to know if there is a prescribed "maintenance" period wherein a sensor HAS to be cleaned, for performance sake.

I ask because I have'nt once seriously cleaned my D60 sensor ever since I bought it in early 2003. I've never had to, and every now and then I fold up the mirror and use a blower to dislodge the occasional spek.

My worry is whether over time CMOS sensors accumulate grime, or other stuff that might stick (and perhaps corrode over time?) and thus warrant a more serious swipe.

thanks
I dont know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone

I’m about to undergo this process also. I went to the local photographic store for a price on the stuff I would need, they didn’t have any, and they also recommended that I send the camera off to be clean. This website site seems to have the best advice:

Anybody have any last tips and warnings, before undergoing this procedure?
