Photography At TUL

Tue Oct 26, 2004 6:28 pm

I may have the chance to spend some time at TUL soon. How are the locals about photography there, and are there any good spots to shoot from?

Hi Steve, I was there recently and there are 2 viewing areas there. Both at each end of the rwy.In the morning go to the viewing area on the north side of the airport. Its just next to the air national guard. To get there take US169 and get off at 46TH ST N.When you get to that exit take a right and it goes in circle to westbound 46th.Its good in the morning hours. In the afternoon go to the viewing area on the southside. Its just at the end of the rwy across the street from the parking garage.I have some pics from TUL added recently and it will give you an idea on how photograghy in TUL is.Keep in mind most of the traffic is RJs but there is a Champion 727 that comes in around 130pm and it leaves for LAS at 245pm.

Don't forget about the occasional American Airlines A300 that might come in for maintenance!

Email me and I can give you most, if not all, of the spots that will not get you the bum's rush out of there. There are 3 of us that regularly shoot at TUL and if you are lucky, there are some neat pix waiting to be taken. As was previously mentioned, most of the traffic is RJ's and 737's. Lots of Southwest, American Eagle, American, Delta Connection, Northwest Jetlink, etc. Lots of ANG activity as well with the F16's coming out regularly. You can look here as well as on the "other" site (jetphotos.net) for lots of TUL pictures from all of the different vantage points.

Thanks for the responses. I should be confirming my travel arrangements next week, and I'll let you know.
