Is This Photo Salvagable?

Tue Nov 09, 2004 12:52 am

Hi guys,

I haven't really been out much this year so photo's from me have been very slow, if not non existent. Add to that the fact that I've lost most of my photos from the last 2 years when my computer blew earlier this year (twist of fate, my backup DVD was in the DVD drive when the power supply surged and was corrupted). But since then i've had 1 trip abroad to Barcelona. I got really lucky with a passing aircraft and somehow managed to snap a picture of it.

I'm pretty sure i've managed to get a superior edit out of it since then but i'm wondering whether there's any point. Any help is appreciated! I can see its a bit grainy and a bit soft (you won't BELIEVE how dirty the windows were, I always seem to have this problem with Boeing's).

OK I have played around with it in photoshop and come out with this:

I know its a little bit bright but this is more like how I imagine it would've looked like had it not been for the terrible windows! Maybe a compromise between the two?

edit:

Here's the compromise. I still feel I prefer the darker, more contrasty shot but I'm guessing this conforms more to A.nets standards:

Any good?

Thanks

Dan.

Can you perhaps tell us why this was rejected? From your explanation, I'm guessing badquality. If that's the case, I don't know if any of the new photos are any better. I however much prefer the final edit you posted up. Very lucky to have gotten that shot! Nice job!

By the way, may I suggest you name your uploads something more appropriate than "BA757"?  Smile

I would reject it. The color and exposure is all wrong. The colors look surreal.

If you think the color is wrong in the modified version, here's the original Big grin.

I'm surprised it came out even half presentable...!

edit: Yes the reason was badquality, which I can understand in a way, I was just hoping there was a chance of getting it onto the database as it means quite alot to me. I realized after uploading that perhaps the filename was not the most appropriate, result of a rusty photo processing technique I think  Big grin.

the third is better, but the quality just isnt there. Have a look around the engine intakes as an example.

looks a bit over saturated/over contrast. should be ok for MyAviation though.

If it doesn't get accepted in myav.net, it really needs some work  Big grin.

You do know that myav.net has a 0% rejection rate, right?  Smile
