Yeah, I think they were rejected because they're too big vertically. I've seen pictures accepted with an 'odd' size occasionally, but in general the rule of the thumb is to keep the horizontal/vertical ratio between 3:2 and 4:3. If the picture is more 'square' than 4:3, it's often rejected for badsize...
Just crop off some sky above and below the airplane to reduce the vertical size to somewhere between 683 and 768.
