Super Wide Angle. Sigma 12-24

Sun Dec 05, 2004 6:14 am

Got my hands on a Sigma 12-24EX today although just for a brief moment.
Have to say i am surprised with the results and it gives some nice opportunities, for sure when you are working inside a 747 fuel tank.

Also a former business class cabin looks different then it used to be.

It all stays quite sharp and the biggest benefit over my own 15-30 is that it doesn't flare.
An amazing piece of glass i would say and it is the first thing on my wish list.

You're welcome, Willem...

Your next opportunity to test my brand new 12-24 lens (you now already made more pics with it than I did...) will be next Wednesday @ PH-BUK.

Anyway, nice to see how this toy performs in your hands.
That narrow tank almost looks like a cathedral now  Wow!

Sigma does make great lenses. One thing all these lenses definitely lack is f2.8 all the way.....therefore I prefer my Nikon 10.5mm f2.8 over it.

I am sure you do Vasco but that's not a zoom lens.
The equivalent Nikon 12-24 is also F4 which of course is still better then Sigma's F4.5-5.6 but then again i don't use a wide angle at full open anyway so it does not bother me.
Besides the Nikon 10.5 does not fit my 10D anyway Big grin

Comfortable you said ? Crawling through these holes from one compartment to the next, smelling the kerosene fumes, bumping your head knees and elbows all the time, other guys with jack hammers on top of you and removing around 400 bolts is not exactly my idea of comfort  Laugh out loud
