Status Of Landing Shots At PHL?

Greetings...

Depending on this Thursday's weather (12-8), possibly going to drive down from my folk's house to shoot at PHL for the day...

I know there were issues last year with patrol officers with some of the members there, was wondering if the locals can update what the status of getting approach shots was at this time? Also, for photography there, what kind of mm settings are needed for say, an A320/B737?

PHL is fine for photos. 27R arrivals and 27L departures are the best. Park on Hog Island Rd. for 27R landings (about 150mm for a 737). Continue on the same road past UPS to the gravel lot in front of the fire training area for 27L departures (about 200mm for a 737). In between you can stop at the end of rwy 35 for landing shots there. If they are landing 9R, the shots are great. But there are no parking signs at that end and you will get chased. Generally you won't be bothered in the other spots. Sometimes they ask what you're doing, but they are not likely to make you leave. As an example. I and a 3 other guys were there for 8 hours on Sat. President Bush was coming in for the Army-Navy game. We were questioned by the Secret Service, not chased. Then were were chased by local police..who were very nice and said we could come back after the President landed. But we timed it and got back to the road to get AF1 landing shots on 27R. Later, we were questioned by the Coast Guard "Strike Team Atlantic", who patrol the oil refinery that's along that road. Again, we weren't told to leave.
